Company History.
-
We were started in the late 1950s by the
late Bill Eaglesham, who started importing brass
locos from Japan. He then married Miss Margaret
G. Sharp (thats where M.G. Sharp comes
from).
-
Bill wanted to further his career in the
Bank & Finance industry, so Margaret took
care of the shop (and me) then situated in
Glasgow. Bill's success in the Finance industry
brought the opportunity of a move down to
Sheffield, to "make or break" the
local office for the company he worked for at
that time.
-
After 18 months he turned the Sheffield
office around and was offered the job
permanently, which he took. This meant the shop
had to be relocated to Sheffield, which was done
after one of the annual Glasgow Exhibitions (AMRSS).
In March 1971 we moved into our new premises
situated on Staniforth Road (round the corner
from our current shop). In 1977 we moved again,
to our current address.
-
In 1983 I started in the business, which at
that time specialized in American HO & N,
British OO R-T-R and Loco kits, European HO
& N. We had also just been appointed the
sole UK agent for a unknown Japanese company
called
which at that time had an excellent range of
Japanese N scale items.
-
So where are we today? At the same premises
we've been in for the past 25+ years, we have
recently re-vamped it. We have also invested in Five state of the art computers
& lap-tops
(so I can work 24-7 yuk...)
all networked together with 2 colour lasers,
a B&W laser printer, scanner & digital
cameras (we are on number 3 & 4 now) to help us keep our business in that very
important number one position (no
prizes for coming second best!!). One of the best web sites in this
industry (so you keep telling us).
-
We have more products from more
manufactures
than I care to list and this is going to expand on a
continual basis, but we aren't just looking
to sell you that one expensive locomotive, we
want to offer you everything that "Your
Model Railway" could need & that's
what's makes us different from other shops.
-
We also are modellers too, I personally have
won many "British Region NMRA" awards
for my painting and detailing of American HO
& N Scale Locos and rolling stock.

Me (Ken)..
Well, what can I say !!!!
I came to work in the wholesale side of "Family" business
(Anchoridge MGS Distributors Ltd.) in 1983, after managing a
pub in a local village, where I started as a part time
Saturday/Sunday night helper. We then merged the two
companies together and I then became a full partner. The rest as
they say is history. My interests are many, the main one
being cars (which I seem to have inherited from my dad), I
currently have a Ford Focus "Asbo" ST, Audi RS6 & A old Audi S2 Coupe (2.2 turbo 20v 230bhp with 4
wheel drive through a 6 speed box (stunning performance), I am hoping to restore one
of Bills old relics a Lancia Thema 2.0 Turbo 16v
(That Never Happened another pipe dream.... like many of us
not enough hours in a day So Had to get rid!!!!). My
children James (15),
Hannah (13) &
Elizabeth (2-3), then Railways, Food & "Drink", Golf (when I have
time), travelling and of course ladies. "Behind every successful
Man theres a woman"........
(nagging in my experience). Only kidding...
-
Margaret
well what can I say here (better be careful
or Ill get a thick ear), she has been the main backbone to this
company since it started nearly 40 years ago. She now only
works part time (Mondays, Wednesdays & Saturdays). Shes
forgotten more about this hobby than some people could ever
think of learning. With a banking background she also does
the accounts, mail-order packing, nagging at me for buying
to much stock, or spending yet more money on IT equipment. Her
main interests now, are Golf (Lady Captain of Wath in 2002),
cooking & travelling around the world.
-
Fran Eaglesham,
Fran
is my wife and she is in charge of The Mail Order
These Days & Book Keeping.
She has an interest in LGB, which I have to now put around the garden at home (I never
seem to get away from work !!). Before someone says she must me
stupid firstly, for Marring me and secondly, for working
here, she Graduated from Reading University with a BSc Hons. In Environmental
Science, 4 A-levels & 10 GCSE's !!!. Her main interests are
Our Daughter Elizabeth, Food (when I cook, did I not say that I am a good cook also,
whoops I must be slipping.....), Cooking, Travelling & Pets (including me).

Tom
Holberry;
Started her on a Retail NVQ course 3 years ago
and has been here since! Sad but he says all he ever wanted was to
work in a model railway shop, From this you would be correct
in assuming he is a railway nut, mostly UK stuff but we have tried
to widen his interests, some of it sticks! He is not always the
"Brightest Spark in a Box of Fireworks"
but he is a Reliable, Hard & very honest worker, and will bend over
backwards to try and help you, if he can!!!!
-
Sue Bagworth,
Sue had been with us for over 10 years. She
Has Just Taken Early Retirement To Concentrate On Her main interests, are Golf (Past Lady Captain
& Now Vice Captain @ Her New Club.) & Travelling.
