EMD E9 A & B Units.

Photo Information —
Prototype Information —
The E8/9 diesel locomotive shared the similar "bulldog nose" carbody style as the shorter, more popular F7 and was powered by two separate 12-cylinder prime movers (i.e., diesel engines) capable of producing 2250/2400 hp. The E8/9 also rode on A-1-A trucks (powered axle-idler axle-powered axle), resulting in an exceptionally smooth ride favored by crews. The E8/9 was produced in both A-units and cabless B-units. The A-units were usually built to railroad specification of either single or dual headlight and freight or passenger pilot. Like the F3 and F7 of the same time period, the E8/9 was utilized in both passenger and freight service. .
Model Features —
All locomotives will be equipped with body mounted KATO magnetic knuckle couplers, Single Headlight featuring directional Golden White LED headlights and illuminated preprinted numberboards, powerful five pole motor with all wheel electrical pickup and blackened wheels,  Designed to be paired with the Union Pacific Smoothside Passenger Car sets, Locomotives are DCC friendly.

Re-Tooled GE C44-9W.

Photo Information —
Prototype Information —
The first year of production of this heavy freight hauler by GE (General Electric Company) was 1993. This behemoth locomotive can generate up to 4,400 horsepower. Besides its sheer overall size, the Dash 9 is often recognized by the flat radiators that extend over the edge of the hood at the back of the locomotive. There are several variations in the outward appearance of the Dash 9. End handrails are commonly referred to as "wide" or "narrow", while step wells may be classified as "5-step" or "6-step." Location of number boards may also differ between roads ("high" or "low"). The Santa Fe (and later BNSF) units also feature the notched "gullwing" cab.
Model Features —
The C44-9W has been retooled for a release in both Southern Pacific and Union Pacific road names with its enhanced underside detailing, accurate ditch light and anti-climber positioning, separate handrail and front safety rail moulding, and illuminated number boards. All locomotives equipped with body mounted KATO magnetic knuckle couplers. Locomotives feature directional Golden White LED headlights and illuminated preprinted numberboards. Locomotives have a powerful five pole motor with all wheel electrical pickup and blackened wheels & are DCC friendly.

EMD F3A & B Units.

Photo Information —
Prototype Information —
The F-Unit is probably the most recognized diesel locomotive in North American history. It was found on railroads from East to West and North to South. Eastern railroads favoured a "Single Headlight" version of the F3, while Western railroads favoured a "Dual Headlight" version.  F3 locomotives were used in both freight and passenger service. For passenger service, it was necessary for the locomotives to have a Steam Generator to provide heat and electricity in the passenger cars. In later years, many F3 locomotives originally intended for passenger services were downgraded to freight duty.
Model Features —

Great Northern EMD F7 "Empire Builder locos".

Prototype Information —
The "Empire Builder" ran from Chicago to St. Paul/Minneapolis via the Chicago Burlington & Quincy RR and then via the Great Northern Railway to Seattle along the northern tier of states through the Cascade mountain range and through the Cascade tunnel and Glacier National Park in Montana. In Spokane, a section of the train went on to Portland via the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway. Head end power consisted of 3 locomotives as an A-B-A combination. There were other trains these cars could be used on that were operated by the Great Northern such as the "Internationals" between Seattle and Vancouver, "Western Star" between Chicago and Seattle, "Dakotan" the "Winnipeg Limited" and others.

EMD NW-2 Switcher.

Photo Information —

Prototype Information —
EMD's NW2 Switchers lifetime was nearly cut short just 3 years after its introduction, with the establishment of the war production board in 1942, which dictated that EMD was to halt all production of switching locos, manufacturing only road units during 1942-1945. However, such was the popularity of this loco that after the restrictions was lifted, the NW2 sprung back as many Railroads placed orders for this little 1000hp powerhouse. Some NW2s are still in-service today.
Model Features —
The Model replicates every prototype detail with pinpoint precision whilst offering low running speeds with high pulling power. locomotives will feature directional LED headlight without losing any cab space. illuminated number-boards. Low flange wheels. All locomotives will be equipped with body mounted KATO magnetic knuckle couplers.

EMD SD70M with Flat Radiator.

Prototype Information —
Introduced in 1992, EMD SD70M was a 4000 horsepower locomotive that ran on EMDs new steerable truck design, known as the HTCR-II radial truck. This new truck allowed the locomotive to transfer its power to the rails more efficiently, which in turn enabled two SD70M locomotives to pull a train that would have taken three SD40-2s to pull. The early version of this locomotive, depicted in this latest release from Kato USA, had a flat radiator rather than the flared radiators of later versions. The SD70M is a powerful locomotive, ideally suited for pulling long freight trains of Gunderson Maxi-Stack well cars or Bethgon Coalporters.
Model Features —
The SD70M with flat radiator is DCC friendly for the simple installation of digital decoders, features a five pole motor with dual brass flywheels, golden white LED directional headlights, new magnetic knuckle couplers with straight shank, and illuminated number boards and ditch lights. All locomotives will be equipped with body mounted KATO straight shank magnetic knuckle couplers Locomotives will feature directional Golden White LED headlight and illuminated pre-printed number-boards. Lighted ditch lights, DCC friendly, All 6 axles powered.

amtrak EMD F40PH.

Prototype Information —
The EMD F40PH is synonymous with the Amtrak era of American passenger trains. Although it has been retired from Amtrak service, it operated for over 20 years. It continues to be the motive power for commuter railroads all over the United States. Over 400 F40PH locomotives have been manufactured by EMD in various configurations. The F40PH went through some external changes during its production life and each railroad tended to order a custom package of headlights, horns, and other equipment that modellers call "details". Even Amtraks several orders had multiple detail variations. The version we have selected for this production represents locomotives equipped with radiator "Q-Fans" - a version never before offered.
Model Features —
Equipped with KATO fully-automatic magnetic knuckle couplers. DCC-friendly mechanism. Shock absorber construction for reliable performance. Directional headlight. Illuminated number boards. All-wheel electrical pick-up and traditional KATO motor with dual brass flywheels. Additional snow plow included for tight radius operation.

EMD SD90Mac.

Prototype Information —
The SD90/43MAC is one of todays most powerful locomotives, seen throughout North America on Class I mainline railroads, weighing in at more than 400,000 pounds. With a length in excess of 80 feet, the SD90/43MAC is one of the heaviest and longest single diesel locomotive in the world. The SD80/90MAC series was introduced by EMD in late 1995. To date, there have been three production "versions" of the SD90MAC. Union Pacific, by far, operates the largest fleet of SD90MAC units. They have even applied different paint schemes to these units. The production version we have chosen to recreate is the 4,300 horsepower "SD90/43MAC". It is equipped with the revolutionary radial truck, the EMD HTCR-II, capable of reducing the angle of wear between wheels and rail.
Model Features —
The split metal frame mechanism is "DCC-friendly". Equipped with bright white LED headlights. Lighted front-end ditch lights. equipped with KATO automatic magnetic knuckle couplers. Printed numberboards (modeler install). Powerful KATO five-pole motor with dual brass flywheels and chemically blackened metal wheels. While these models are capable of operating on a 9-3/4" radius curve, it is recommended they be run on curves no smaller than an 11" radius to prevent the appearance of unrealistic overhang.
