DB BR184 4-6-2 Express Loco With DCC
Socket. "All Metal Body, Fulhaber Motor In Boiler With Flywheel". Epoche III.
The class S 3/6 locomotives purchased by the Royal Bavarian State
Railroad starting in 1908 were one of the most successful and
beautiful designs to originate from Bavarian locomotive building.
Under their new designation as the class 18.4 in the German State
Railroad period, they therefore formed the backbone of the
extra-regional express passenger service at the point of renowned
long distance trains such as the Rheingold or the Orient Express.
Thanks to high levels of performance with simultaneously low fuel
consumption, additional units of the class 18.5 were ordered up to
1931 and the last units were not retired until 1966. Several museum
locomotives remain preserved, among them an operational unit at the
Bavarian Railroad Museum in Nördlingen.

DB BR58 2-10-0 Heavy Freight Loco With DCC
Socket. "All Metal Body, Fulhaber Motor In Boiler With Flywheel". Epoche III.
By 1921 a total of eight builders had finished 1,168 units of the
class G 12 for the Prussian-Hessian State Railways and the DRG.
Another 321 similar locomotives went to other parts of the railroad.
In 1925 the German State Railroad Company’s class G 12 was
redesignated as the class 58, whereby the Prussian G 12 was given
the class designation of 5810-21. In 1950 the German Federal
Railroad still had 152 locomotives of this class on its roster.

BR03 4-6-2 Express Loco With Witte Smoke Deflectors. Flywheel
Drive & DCC Ready.
Epoche III.The class 01 locomotives with an axle load
of more than 20 metric tons were much too heavy for many German
State Railroad Company DRG) routes that had not yet been improved.
Starting in 1930 the DRG purchased the class 03 as a lighter version
of the class 01, so that seamless passenger service with modern
steam locomotives could also be guaranteed on these routes. A total
of almost 200 units of this class were placed into service by 1937,
of which most were acquired after the war by the German Federal
Railroad and by the German State Railroad (East Germany).

DB
BR03 10 4-6-2 Steam Loco, Non Streamlined, Revised
Model With DCC Socket. Epoche III.Of the 45 units of
the former class 03.10 streamlined locomotive that were still in
existence after 1945, 26 were on the roster of the German Federal
Railroad. By the mid-1950s, the condition of the boilers on these
units was so bad that the DB decided to undertake an extensive
rebuilding program with new boilers. The appearance of the
locomotives changed considerably in the process and resembled the
class 01.10 units that had also been equipped with new boilers.
However, the rebuilding of the class 03.10 was not so successfully
technically as with the class 01.10, so that the former soon ended
up in fast passenger train service. All of them were stationed in
Hagen and were retired by 1966.

DB BR042 2-8-2 Oil Fired Version, With DCC
Socket. Epoche IV.As early as the 1950s the boilers on
the class 41 locomotives purchased starting in 1936 were beginning
to show signs of wearing out. Starting in 1957 they were therefore
equipped with new boilers identical to those used on the class 03.
Thirty units were also converted to oil firing as part of this
rebuilding program and were equipped with a typical oil tender. The
rebuilding and conversion program increased the locomotives power
slightly. However, despite good results, the concept of oil-fired
steam locomotives could not compete long term with the higher
efficiency level of the diesel locomotives.

DB BR 52, With Steifrahmen Tender,
With DCC Socket. Epoche III.
Three different tender designs were used for the standard version
of the class 52: the type K 2’2’T 26 box style tender, the type K 2’2’T 30
tub style tender, and the type K 4 T 30 rigid frame tender, the K in
German representing a wartime design. The rigid frame tender had no
trucks; instead, the first and fourth wheel sets were mounted in a fixed
frame on the 4 T 30, and the second and third wheel sets had 15 mm / 9/16

DRG BR5810-21 2-10-0 With Faulhaber
Motor With DCC Socket. Epoche II.
In 1925 the class G 12 was changed to the class 58 by the German
State Railroad Company, whereby the Prussian G 12 was changed to the class
5810-21. Up to 1915 all of the provincial railroads operated their own
locomotive designs that were tailored to the individual geographical
features and requirements of that country. During the First World War this
variety of locomotives in use by the army in occupied areas turned out to
be a problem. The constant lack of spare parts and the fact that the
locomotive crews and maintenance people were not familiar with these
different models led in 1915 to the decision to have a standard design
locomotive designed that was to be purchased by all of the German state
railroads with the exception of Bavaria. An extensive production program
was requested. This locomotive was to be used in army railroad service for
the duration of the war and for military freight trains as well as for
passenger trains. It was originally planned as a 2-8-0 wet steam
locomotive, but was changed to a 2-10-0 superheated steam locomotive in
order to create a locomotive design that would also meet all the
requirements for peacetime use. Henschel was given the contract for the
design work that was finished at the start of 1917. As early as July of
the same year Henschel was able to deliver the first 50 class G 12
locomotives. In the following years only a few changes were carried out on
this locomotive. For example, starting in 1919 the steam dome and sand
boxes were not under the same metal housing.
