Pic Item Description.
2935 Surge Bin 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 x 9" 3.8 x 3.8 x 22.7cm.

The Cornerstone Series Surge Bin and Conveyor Leg kits will look great on any post-1960 layout. The Conveyor Leg is the transport system that moves grain throughout elevator complexes. The kit includes the tall conveyor, plus several ground-level augers for use between bins and conveyors. Grain handling businesses usually have a couple of legs, one for dry and one for wet grain; keep this in mind when building your grain complex. The Surge Bin is fed by a chute from the wet conveyor leg. It then feeds the grain dryer and dry grain moves in an auger to the dry conveyor leg and storage bin. In many locations, a second surge bin, fed by the dry conveyor leg, is used for loading grain trucks.

2936 Conveyor Leg. 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 x 15-3/4" (Max Height) 3.8 x 3.8 x 40cm

Prototypes, known as "legs," lift wet and dry grain (a typical operation has two or more, each dedicated to incoming and outbound grain) using an endless bucket conveyor; grain is then gravity-fed to bins through supply piping.

* Must-Have for Modern Operations * Fits Any Complex * Adjustable Height * Conveyor Details * Motor & Belt Drive Details * Safety Cage Ladders w/See-Through Platforms * Authentic Ground-Level U-Trough Augers * Overhead Piping

Grain storage bins are connected to the rest of the complex by piping and augers from the Leg Conveyor kit. Parts for 2 Complete Bins * Fine Corrugated "Metal" Details * "Steel" Supports and Crossbraces * Safety Cage Ladders * One-Piece Roof.

It was an age of elegant style. Clothes, carriages , buildings -- especially buildings -- had a distinctive style and lavish ornaments. Many still survive, lovingly restored to their former glory.

Capture the elegance of those long-ago days with the Gold Ribbon Series™ buildings from Walthers. This collection of HO Scale kits is designed for simple snap-together assembly with a minimum of gluing. The finished models are perfect for layouts, dioramas or Christmas Villages.

Major parts snap together and you just glue on smaller details for the finishing touch. Main walls and trim are moulded as one assembly, but in two different colours, so you can use your new model right of the box. Windows feature true-to-scale mullions and frames moulded in colour over clear glazing for more realism. Decals and interior detail sheets are included as appropriate, along with complete instructions. Packed with details, you'll be proud to display the finished buildings in any setting.

Before automobiles and superhighways, the hotel was a home away from home. Guests enjoyed comfortable bedrooms, a full-service restaurant and a parlour on the ground floor. The pace of life was slower, and guests often stayed for days or weeks at a time.

The easy-to-build Worthington Hotel captures the look and feel of a hotel built prior to 1900. Featuring a decorative cornice, angled corner and separate side entrance, this model could house a hotel, restaurant or, in more modern times, offices or an antique shop.. Snap-together main parts, some moulded in two realistic colours, allow quick, easy construction. Designed to fit on a city corner, the Worthington Hotel kit also includes realistic decals and an interior light.

Recreate the exciting rail service and action that surrounds Americas' auto industry with this series of HO Scale structure kits. Every phase of the operation is here, from the front office where decisions are made, to the Distribution Facility where new cars or trucks are loaded for their first long trip by train.

Handsomely detailed and designed for easy construction, each kit features plastic parts moulded in colours, complete instructions and through a special licensing agreement, authentic Ford logo decals! (Of course, you can model your favourite brand with these kits which are typical of buildings used by all major automakers.)

As small industries became successful companies, most needed purpose-built office space. Though dwarfed by ever-larger manufacturing or assembly plants designed to do one or two jobs, no other building on the property typically did as much work under one roof. Here, an army of bookkeepers, stenographers, secretaries, mail clerks, accountants, telephone operators, janitors, typists and others were needed to handle the volume of work.

Constructed alongside a busy street or other highly visible location, the office projected power, strength and confidence. They were often constructed of stone or brick and included a variety of dignified trim elements. This also required they be remodeled fairly often, to keep them looking modern and up-to-date.

Based on a prototype built by the Ford Motor Company at Dearborn, Michigan, in the 1920s, this building once served as the headquarters of the Detroit, Toledo & Ironton railroad. On your HO Scale layout, virtually any large industrial complex, such as a steel mill, brewery, or manufacturing plant needs a building like this located on the property. With its shape, size and numerous windows, it's typical of many public buildings as well. With appropriate details and figures available separately, it could be used to model a school, city hall, hospital, courthouse or other government offices as well.
Finished model measures: 13-1/2 x 6-1/2 x 7-1/4" 33.7 x 16.2 x 18.1cm .

3038 Amtrak Station, Re-Run for 2008.
The depot was a magical place. At train time, everything stopped as local folks went down to watch the varnish come in. The old depot may be gone, but the magic is still there! Today, shiny Amtrak streamliners glide by, and in many areas, daily commuter trains make up much of the trackside action. These modern trains require modern facilities and bringing your layout up-to-date is easy with this kit. It's based on a design first used in the late 1970s, which was adapted for use in several Amtrak-served communities. This detailed model captures the clean lines of the original in a size that's right for the contemporary layout. Full-color Amtrak station signs add the finishing touch.

3085 Black Gold Asphalt (Hot Mix Plant).
By the late 1990s, some 93% - about 3-1/2 million miles - of American highways were built with asphalt. The paving work starts at hot mix plants, like Black Gold, where fine aggregates (sand or gravel) are mixed with a binder made from bituminous, an oil by-product. This mixture is heated to 250° to 375° Fahrenheit; too hot and structurally weakening carbon particles form, too cold and it won't compact correctly. (This is why road repairs/building are done in warmer weather, when temperatures remain stable for long periods.) Dump trucks deliver the hot mix to specialized pavers that apply the asphalt mixture at a uniform depth, width, slope and temperature, ready for surfacing and sealing by compactors.

Requiring a steady supply of raw materials in bulk (A good paving crew can lay up to 3,000 tons of asphalt in a single shift!), your new hot mix plant will provide plenty of car-loadings on your modern HO Scale railroad.

This highly detailed kit is complete with oil tanks, two conveyors, a three-bay mixing bin with conveyor, furnace with ductwork, rotary mixing kiln, piping, double loading silos and colorful decal signs. The kit has also been designed to accept a Seuthe smoke generator (#667-117, sold separately) that adds animation to your finished model.

Much of the sand and gravel arrives in 3-bay hoppers, though some roads use Ortner Aggregate Hoppers. These distinctive cars carry money-saving loads of 100 tons and are fitted with special rapid discharge, bottom unloading doors. Walthers cars are available in singles (932-7050 Series) and three-packs (932-37051 Series), which feature four different car numbers for each roadname. The material can be moved at the plant with the Wheel Loader (933-3141). Bituminous is shipped in insulated tank cars to keep it in a fluid state while in transit and during unloading.

Loads-in/empties-out operations can be modeled with the Deluxe Glacier Gravel (933-3703) kit, which simulates the rock crusher/washer found at quarries. Rock can be moved here with the Heavy-Duty Wheel Loader (933-3162) and Terex Dump Truck (933-3162).

1161 Douglas DC-3/C-47 "Dakota" Delta.
It was the plane that put America in the air in the 1930s, and there's a good chance your parents or grandparents had their first flight in a DC-3. With its sleek all-metal construction, reliable twin engines and proven performance, it went on to become the best-known airliner in the world. On the eve of World War Two, the DC-3 was rebuilt as a cargo carrier for the Army and Navy, and flew into aviation history as the C-47. In the late 40s and 50s, DC-3s and former C-47s were flown by airlines large and small as the airline and air freight industries mushroomed. Although eventually replaced by larger jet aircraft, DC-3s are still flying throughout the world.

Our HO Scale model is a fitting tribute to this great airplane. It includes optional fuselage sections and details to build an airliner with small side entry door, or the cargo-carrying C-47 with its double-wide cargo/personnel doors. Separate engines, propellers and wheels are also included. Each model comes with a sheet of colorful decals, authentic for the period in which the airplane flew.
